Haven Health's presence in Amarillo dates back to 1968 when the first certified obstetrician / gynecologist in our community, Dr. Early B. Lokey, was named the organization's first Medical Director.

Dr. Lokey recognized the need to provide women without private medical care access to basic health services, such as Pap tests, exams and contraceptives.

His impulse to provide those medical services combined with the passion, determination and support of Amarillo's resident, Estelle Marsh, led to the creation of what is now Haven Health.

Over the past 51 years, the services offered by Haven Health have evolved and expanded.

Haven Health's Story

Today, the organization provides quality medical care for both women and men throughout the Texas Panhandle and offers a range of educational programs for all ages.

Haven Health offers affordable reproductive health services to women and men, regardless of their ability to pay. Payments are made through private insurance, Medicaid, Healthy Texas Women (HTW), Family Planning Program (FPP) and Title X. HTW and FPP provide certain services at no cost to those who qualify. Haven Health is also a provider of breast cancer and cervical cancer in Texas. This program helps fund statewide sites that provide quality and affordable breast and cervical cancer screenings and diagnostic services for women.

We also provide limited primary health care services through a subcontract with the Coalition of  Health Services.
